Some are die-cut with a string attached so you could tie the tag to the ribbon on the Christmas package.
Some are just folded; others are from a time gone by, when you had to lick the back of the sticker.
Or, if you had a lot of stickers to stick, you wiped a damp sponge across the back of each one before carefully positioning it on the gift-wrapped package or the Christmas card envelope.
